UK Student Visa (Student Route)
The UK Student Visa โ officially known as the Student Route โ allows international students, including Bangladeshi nationals, to study at a licensed UK university or college. Previously called the Tier 4 visa, it is the most common route for higher education in the United Kingdom.
To be eligible, you must have an unconditional offer from a UKVI-licensed Sponsor institution, demonstrate sufficient English language proficiency, and prove you have enough money to support yourself during your studies.

Student Visa (Student Route)
For degree-level study (undergraduate, postgraduate) at UK universities. Valid for the full course duration plus extra time.
Child Student Visa
For students aged 4โ17 attending an independent school in the UK. Requires a confirmed school offer.
PhD / Research Route
For postgraduate research degrees including PhD, MRes, and integrated master's with research components.
Short-term Study Visa
For short English language courses of up to 6 months (or 11 months for English language programmes).

โFinancial Requirement Proof of funds: tuition fees for Year 1 + ยฃ1,334/month (up to 9 months) for London; ยฃ1,023/month outside London. Funds must be held for at least 28 consecutive days.

โATAS Clearance (if required) Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate for certain sensitive subjects at postgraduate level.

Receive University Offer & CAS
Accept your conditional/unconditional offer and receive your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from your UK institution.

Work Rights on UK Student Visa
- โUp to 20 hours/week during term time for degree-level students at Higher Education institutions.
- โFull-time during vacations โ You may work unlimited hours during official university holidays.
- โPost-Study Work (Graduate Route) โ After completing your degree, apply for 2 years (3 years for PhD) to live and work in the UK.
- โRestrictions โ You cannot work as a self-employed person or in certain professional roles while on a Student Visa.

It depends on your university's requirements. Some universities accept degree certificates from English-medium institutions. However, UKVI may still require a Secure English Language Test (SELT) in some cases.
Dependants of Student Visa holders can only join you if you are a government-sponsored student OR studying a postgraduate course at a government-approved institution. This rule changed in January 2024.
