UK Student Visa (Student Route)

The UK Student Visa โ€” officially known as the Student Route โ€” allows international students, including Bangladeshi nationals, to study at a licensed UK university or college. Previously called the Tier 4 visa, it is the most common route for higher education in the United Kingdom.

To be eligible, you must have an unconditional offer from a UKVI-licensed Sponsor institution, demonstrate sufficient English language proficiency, and prove you have enough money to support yourself during your studies.

Frequently Asked Questions

How early can I apply for a UK Student Visa?

You can apply up to 6 months before your course start date if you are applying from outside the UK. We recommend applying as soon as you have your CAS number to allow time for processing.

Do I need IELTS if my medium of instruction was English?

It depends on your university's requirements. Some universities accept degree certificates from English-medium institutions. However, UKVI may still require a Secure English Language Test (SELT) in some cases.

Can I bring my family (spouse/children) to the UK?

Dependants of Student Visa holders can only join you if you are a government-sponsored student OR studying a postgraduate course at a government-approved institution. This rule changed in January 2024.

What happens if my visa is refused?

You may be able to reapply with additional documentation or appeal the decision. Our expert team analyses refusal letters and provides the strongest possible reapplication strategy.

Is AtExpert Consulting registered to give immigration advice?

Yes. AtExpert Consulting operates in full compliance with Bangladesh regulations and works in close partnership with OISC-registered advisors in the UK to ensure all guidance meets official standards.

What is the TB test and where do I take it in Bangladesh?

All visa applicants from Bangladesh aged 11+ must provide a tuberculosis test from a UKVI-approved clinic. Approved clinics are available in Dhaka. The test involves a chest X-ray and takes about 2 hours. Results are valid for 6 months.
